The soldier's eyes shot open, looking from side to side, seeing the familiar room of the medical bay of his ship. He sat up; gasping for air, his left hand resting on his left abdomen, surprised at the fact there was no bullet wound. He looked around surprised that Dr. Chakwas wasn't in the room with him. He groaned, sliding from the bed and onto his feet. He rolled his shoulders, again surprised of the lack of bullet wound.
"Commander Shepard, I am surprised to see you up so soon." A female voice came from behind him.
Shepard turned to face one of his oldest friends, Dr. Chakwas. He smiled, "Karen, I told you that you could call me Marcus.
Day One
The morning light crept into the bedroom, shining in on Marcus' face, causing him to groan. His alarm clock went off, making it's annoying noise, making Marcus sigh, getting up. He sat in the bed, rubbing his eyes as he woke up. He got up, turning off the alarm. He knew his roommate could hear it, and he didn't want to wake him up. He then dropped, started his morning push-ups. The six years in the military didn't wear off of him that easily. He counted up to fifty, then rolled over to do his sit-ups. Venku stood on top of a hill, looking down at troopers matching up it in a double line formation with full battle gear on, all carrying semi-automatic rifles marksman carbines. Seven weeks ago when he had first started training the troopers, they had almost no standardized weapon. Most carried a semi-automatic 'Service Rifles'; they called them, while other carried bolt action rifles and single shotguns.
